I
started Calisthenics at the age of 5 taught by Miss Aida Crabbe where
we performed in the combined Bosworth Annual Display at Wirth's Circus
Arena with a mass performance of all of Miss Vera Hopton's Bosworth Classes.
As a Junior I moved to Olnae Calisthenic College to be trained by Miss Olive Naismith and competed at Footscray, Carnegie and Ballarat. Olnae was a small class and closed when Miss Naismith decided to just continue on with her other class Chelsea. I was then invited to attend Clifton Calisthenic College where I also trained to become a coach under Bosworth with Miss Vera Hopton.
My Coaching commenced at Hampton Holy Trinity and Bentleigh Methodist. After 4 years I decided it was time to travel and I spent 3 years overseas working and holidaying. On my return I taught at Chelsea for 1 year and then took over at St. Augustine's Mentone where I continued on for 25 years. I spent many years on the Committee of VCTA (now VCCA) and I was most privileged to be granted Life Membership.
I have been adjudicating for 26 years and have achieved accreditation of Advanced 2 status and most fortunate to officiate at all Competitions, including ACF National Championships, Royal South Street and all Interstate, Country and Metropolitan Competitions.
I have served on the ASCA Committee for 19 years and in that time President for 4 years, AAB Delegate, Cadet Co-Ordinator, Accreditation Officer and Convenor of the Sub Committee for the 4th National Adjudicators Conference in Melbourne.
In 2004 I was presented with a Certificate of Recognition from ACF and a Certificate of Appreciation from CVI -In February 2007 I received Life Membership of the Australian Society of Calisthenic Adjudicators. All my awards are truely appreciated and treasured.
It gives me great delight to see Calisthenics evolve into the high class sport that is now presented by our very talented Coaches and Teams.
I have made many wonderful friendships over the journey and Calisthenics
has been a major factor in my life for which I am truly grateful.
